TESTIMONIALS

I never really understood the need for a Doula until we met Carla.

From Day 1 she felt like a friend, a friend with extensive knowledge and willingness to support me (a first time mum) through something I was pre-empting as terrifying.

Her kind, warm, grounded nature instantly put my mind at ease about the birth.

Carla introduced us to techniques for us as a couple to use during labour making me focus on the positives, and supporting my husband to support me.

Carla went above and beyond for us, completely changing my mindset, and ensuring our needs as a couple were met so that birth was a positive and beautiful experience for us both.

During labour a doula’s role is so important.  We were given the opportunity to be together as a couple and enjoy the experience whilst everything else was taken care of, from snacks, the lighting in the delivery suite, to reminding us both of things that work to make birth as relaxing and smooth as possible, and more importantly, so encouraging and being a hand to hold if you need it.  They think of it all so you don’t have to.

Virtual Antenatal Support Feedback:
Carla has been the most tremendous help to me and my husband. Despite the current lockdown with Covid, Carla has been available 24/7 with support, information and care. Days I have been lonely she has called and boosted my moral. When I have had any issues or questions she has messaged back with so much helpful information that we wouldn’t have found ourselves. Although it has been sad not to be in the same room with Carla for our meetings, we have had many very successful Zoom meetings where we were able to do everything we would have done face to face. Seeing her physically through a screen has been so helpful and we feel that the whole process has been easier because of Carla. The anxiety of pregnancy and birth has been minimalised because of the encouragement and patients and humour of this wonderful Doula.

I clicked with Carla via text before we even met! She has a lovely, caring motherly vibe with a great sense of humour thrown in. It was great to have someone to discuss anything and everything with prior to the birth and Carla was constantly researching things for me, checking in on me and giving me loads of great information. I'm used to having to do all the research myself, so it was great to have someone else doing it too!
I was very upset to find that due to the pandemic restrictions, I had to choose between Carla and my husband to be my birthing partner. This was unacceptable to both me and Carla and we joined forces and campaigned for it to be different. The end result of our efforts was being given an amazing midwife who, along with Carla, a second midwife and my husband gave me an incredible, medication free home birth.

Husband speaking..

I feel as a man, you try and shoulder alot of the weight and responsibility of the birthing process alone, so as not to worry my wife whilst she is going through labour.  Doulas are instrumental in that, giving you a shoulder to lean on and reminding me of things that I could do to help.  Whether that is different massage techniques, seating positions or poses that assist with the birthing process.  Our labour went on for in excess of 24 hours, so something as simple as staying and holding my wife's hand whilst I went for food was a massive benefit.  To removing the guilt and worry from me, and giving my wife someone she feels so close to comforting her.  I cant thank Carla enough for all she has taught me and everything she did :)

Carla would check in every day with us both, with encouraging thoughts, and was always there if we had any questions, and would always deliver, with thorough knowledge and extensive research behind the answers.

We consider ourselves as a couple to be a strong team, but Carla just amplified that.  A Doula is a fantastic thing, and Carla was worth her weight in gold.

Carla has been amazing thoughout the whole process, Both whilst I was pregnant and at the birth itself. She was very committed as my labour lasted a little longer than anticipated but she was there every step of the way supporting both me and my partner. She is very warm and friendly and we immediately felt comfortable around her. Thank you so much for allowing us to have such a positive birth experience 💗 Keely
